Location/Region: Nestled along the Savannah River on the border of Georgia and South Carolina

Area History: Augusta is the second oldest city in the state of Georgia and the only other city founded by England's General James Oglethorpe. Augusta is also home to the famed Augusta National where the annual renowned Masters Golf Tournament is held.

Cultural info: Augusta supports all of the major arts groups with an active Symphony, Ballet, Opera, and several Theater groups.

Current info about your area: Augusta is known as the Garden City for it's many public and private Gardens. Golf and Garden enthusiasts alike will enjoy the 8 acres of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame's Botanical Gardens. Augusta also has a strong connection with America's political history and is the home of Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson and to George Walton, the Youngest Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Augusta is also the home of Georgia's only National Heritage area, the Augusta Canal. Guests can visit the Interpretative Center or take a ride in a Petersburg Boat replica.
