Area History: Augusta is the second
oldest city in the state of Georgia and the only other city
founded by England's General James Oglethorpe. Augusta is also
home to the famed Augusta National where the annual renowned
Masters Golf Tournament is held.
Cultural info: Augusta supports all of the
major arts groups with an active Symphony, Ballet, Opera, and several
Theater groups.
Current info about your area: Augusta is known
as the Garden City for it's many public and private Gardens. Golf and
Garden enthusiasts alike will enjoy the 8 acres of the Georgia Golf Hall
of Fame's Botanical Gardens. Augusta also has a strong connection with
America's political history and is the home of Boyhood Home of President
Woodrow Wilson and to George Walton, the Youngest Signer of the
Declaration of Independence. Augusta is also the home of Georgia's only
National Heritage area, the Augusta Canal. Guests can visit the
Interpretative Center or take a ride in a Petersburg Boat replica.
What to see and do: With an Augusta Gallery
Pass a visitor has access to nine admission attractions in Augusta for
half the price. The $20.00 Gallery Pass represents a 50% savings on
admissions to area attractions. The Attractions include Lucy Craft Laney
Museum of Black History, the National Science Center's Ft. Discovery,
the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame's Botanical Gardens, the Morris Museum of
Art, the Augusta Museum of History, the Ezekiel Harris House, the
Augusta Canal Interpretative Center, the Boyhood Home of President
Woodrow Wilson and the oldest house museum in Georgia, George Walton's
Meadow Garden. Visitors shouldn't miss Augusta's Riverwalk and should
plan to shop along Broad Street or dine in one of more than 300
restaurants.

at 560B Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta at 6th and Broad Street or

Facts: Augusta is a city of seconds, second oldest, second largest,
home to the second largest State Welcome Center along Interstate I-20,
and has the second widest Broad Street in America.
