SPOTLIGHT:

Michael Hearne’s Big Barndance Music Festival

Taos, New Mexico - This will be the 9th year for Michael Hearne’s Big Barndance Music Festival. Every year the festival gets better and more magical. Michael brings his talents as an award winning singer-songwriter & master guitarist to the festival. He has also invited his very talented singer-songwriter friends. Moving the Barn Dance to the Old Blinking Light courtyard on Saturday night exceeded our expectations last year.

The transition from a listening audience to a huge dance floor was accomplished by volunteers, audience, & musicians very quickly. This festival takes place under the stars & sunshine of northern New Mexico and also captures the enchantment of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the background. This year’s line-up will include returning favorites, new faces, and some surprises.

Thursday, September 8, 2011 and Friday, September 9, 2011 will feature singer-songwriters from many parts of the country. The audience will have an up close and personal experience with the songwriters, as they spin tales revealing the creative process and stories behind the song. On Thursday night, there will be a jam session following the last performers Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines. On Friday night, Michael Martin Murphey will close out the evening.

Several opportunities will be offered on Saturday morning, September 10, 2011. Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines will lead a singer-songwriter workshop. Sarah Hearne will teach free dance lessons on the Old Blinking Light Patio. Trout Fishing in America will host a show for children & the young at heart on the stage. All of this happens prior to an afternoon of wonderful music followed by the Big Barn Dance with Michael Hearne & South by Southwest & Friends.

“I am proud to have another incredible line-up of such talented musicians, says Michael Hearne. We’ve been doing this for eight years and we are looking forward to yet another successful and unforgettable festival. Thanks so much for all your support throughout the years.”

Location, food, & beverages will be provided by the Old Blinking Light Restaurant at Mile Marker One on Highway 150 in Taos, NM. You will have the opportunity to purchase cds from the performing artists along with other Big Barndance Music Festival and Michael Hearne merchandise. Artists will be available at the merchandise table for meet & greet after their performance.

Tickets on sale now at www.michaelhearne.com or at Old Blinking Light Restaurant, Que Pasa Music and Taos Sound; all located in Taos, New Mexico.
