SPOTLIGHT:

Canyon Lake Ranch ~ A dream realized
(Canyon Lake, Texas)

“Love at first sight” …

Canyon Lake Ranch is a dream realized by owners, Dan and Robbi Boone.

The ranch is not “dude”, but is an elegant stay in the Texas Hill Country near the marina at Canyon Lake. I

t serves as a romantic weekend hideaway, a small corporate retreat, the perfect spot for a Hill Country wedding or a private family vacation destination.

Oak-filled meadows, cleared pasture land, quiet little creeks (dependent upon rain) and landscaped garden; the ranch consists of acreage centered on the needs of the resident Longhorns.

Swimming, hiking, birding, playing horseshoes and basketball, as well as star-gazing, are favorite ranch sports. Hunting fossils is also popular on this ranch that was sea bottom about 50 million years ago.

Tubing the rivers, fishing, and boating are all available nearby. Walking the Canyon Lake Dam and the Guadelupe River path are also guest favorites. The ranch Longhorns, selected for their curly (Pecos Twist) horns and beautiful multicolored coats, are docile and happy to eat “cow cookies,” hand fed by ranch guests.

Though very private and serene, everything from restaurants and antiquing, to outlet mall shopping, is within a comfortable drive from the ranch.

As for the accommodations, the Starview Lodge sleeps six and is a romantic get-away or a great family vacation. Starview Lodge has two bedrooms, one and a half baths, a kitchen, eating area overlooking the swimming pool and a large high ceiling great-room. The house also has a sleeper sofa in front of the fireplace. There is a half basketball court and horseshoes. The Swimming pool and hot tub are just outside the door while the sauna and fireplace are inside the Lodge.

The Longhorn Lodge is nestled under a bank of Oak trees away from everything else on the ranch. It has a fenced yard, two porches, covered parking, fire pit, and chiminea. Three bedrooms and two full baths, a full kitchen, eating area and living room complete the lodge. Families and pets are welcome. The two main queen bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the house and each has a full bathroom. In addition, the third bedroom with twins and a sleeper sofa in the living room, allow the house to comfortably sleep eight.

Lots of extras are included with a stay at Canyon Lake Ranch: all the fixings for the first ranch breakfast, a bottle of Texas wine, a fresh fruit basket, snack items, fresh baked cookies and bedside chocolates. Lovely bath amenities, hair dryer, clock radios, Satellite TV/VCRs are also included along with the use of the ranch movie collection. Both lodges are fully furnished, totally equipped and have Bar-b-ques and satellite TV/VCRs.

Rates range from $150 - $195 for one to two persons, depending on the lodge selected, and the season. Pets welcome with a small fee. The last night is free for weeklong stays and extended stay rates are available for “Winter Texans.” For more information, visit their website, www.canyonlakeranch.us
