Howdy Partner... Look Who's Been Horsin' Around! by: Tammy Young
The Kirbys and the The Gadberrys
did a lot of HORSIN' AROUND this past week at the Sequatchie
Valley B&B Guest Ranch in Dunlap, TN, just outside beautiful
Chattanooga.
Upon check in at the ranch each family member
received their 'very own' Guest Ranch Horse for the duration of
their stay! They learned everything they ever wanted to know
about horses during their stay at the Guest Ranch. Yep...it was
horses, horses, horses...from sun up 'til sun down at the ranch.
They kept their boots by their bed because they were
up at the crack of dawn...really! When the rooster crowed it was time
to feed their horses, learn how to groom them and even clean out their
hooves!...and that was all before having their own breakfast! Oh
yes...don't forget collecting the eggs and milking the goat!

After breakfast on the back deck and soaking up the
gorgeous view of the beautiful Sequatchie Valley, it was time to mount
up and get some serious horsemanship training.
They learned it
all...from the ground up...! Whew...horses are a lot of work! But by
the end of their first day of training they had learned enough to pass
their riding test and complete their emergency dismounts so that the
following day they could hit the trail!
The evening campfire, complete with a singing cowboy,
guitar, and sky full of gorgeous stars was the perfect close to an
unbelievable day!
By the second day, after morning chores...they packed
their saddle bags with lunch and a 'cowboy' Bible and hit the trail!
The enjoyed the incredible views of the Sequatchie Valley and learned
all about the unique history of the area. Later in the day they enjoyed
their saddle bag lunch 'riverside' by the Sequatchie River. After lunch
it was time for a short Bible study on what the Bible has to say about
horses!

Although every day was as new experience and lots of
fun with their Guest Ranch Horse, but their favorite day was Sunday at
the Guest Ranch. That's because on Sunday they actually rode to Church
on horseback where they were more than welcome in their blue jeans and
horse hair! After church it was off to another trail and water side
lunch and another great day at the ranch!
After a 3 day hard working ranch vacation...they hit
the trail heading for home...wishing they had booked an entire week
instead! The Kirbys and the Gadberrys will be galloping back into the
ranch soon!
