Where can you view 900 once-endangered
Trumpeter Swans? Monticello, Minnesota that's where. From
mid-November thru Valentines Day, Monticello is host to over 900
Trumpeters on our Mississippi River.
Over 1000 pounds of food is
fed daily, as the swans utilize our river as their winter
meeting grounds, and singles bar. Photographers delight, as
viewing puts the swans within 50 foot of a camera's lens.
The swans have been making a strong comeback since
1987, when a lone pair discovered the virtues of the open water on
Monticello's Mississippi River. Since then, Monticello has become the
hot spot to Trumpeters from across the U.S. For directions to
Monticello's Mississippi Drive Park, check out the Chamber website at
www.monticellochamber.com We also welcome photos to be entered in
our annual Swan Photo contest. Come enjoy the beauty of these gracious
birds in Monticello Mid-November thru Feb. 14th.
