Steamboat Springs, Colorado -
The 2012 lineup of host towns for the 18th Annual Bicycle Tour
of Colorado has been announced and once again, Steamboat Springs
will be part of the loop tour. The 7 day, fully supported
bicycle tour will come to Steamboat Springs on Wednesday, June
20th and cyclists will depart on Friday, June 22nd.
“We are very excited about
this news and look forward to hosting the cyclists for two
nights next summer. The additional night in town will provide a
great opportunity for the cyclists to get a true taste for
Steamboat Springs and also see how far Steamboat has come as a
cycling summer destination. We’ll definitely plan a lot of fun
activities for the whole community to partake in to welcome our
guests,” said Kara Givnish, the special events director for the
Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
In the past, Steamboat has
hosted the event but only for one day. The change to having a
layover day in 2012 is a great opportunity to spotlight the Bike
Town USA initiative and capitalize on one of the best kept
secrets of the beautiful valley: over 500 miles of single track
trails and road biking opportunities stretching from Wyoming to
Utah.
Bicycle Tour of Colorado
organizers arrange camping areas, baggage transportation, route
maps, road markings, snack and water stations every 15-30 miles,
bicycle repair services, and medical support along the route.
The 2012 tour is limited to the first 1500 cyclists and includes
stops in Fort Collins, Laramie, Saratoga, Craig, Walden and Fort
Collins. For more details, visit
