A Time for Celebration - Holidays in Sedona
Sedona, Arizona

It is that
time of year again: The Holiday season. This is
a time to be thankful for all one has and a time
to reconnect with family and loved ones. This
Holiday season, why not celebrate in Arizona’s
Red Rock country, Sedona? Imagine majestic Red
Rocks with caps of white snow set against a deep
blue Sedona sky… Also, there are so many fun
events that happen during the Holiday season in
Sedona that this is a trip that can please the
entire family.
Ready to
celebrate? Good! There are so many activities in
and around Sedona that are not only fun for the
family, but are also sure to put everybody in
the Holiday spirit. For example, the Verde
Canyon Railroad that winds its way along the
Verde River. During the Holiday season this
railroad offers the Santa Claus Express. Bring
the kids to meet Santa, eat some goodies and
sing songs. There are also Jeep Tours. These
tours are popular for good reason. They take one
back into the Red Rock country and to places one
can’t reach by foot.
There are so
many to choose from too; wild, mild, sunset,
wine country and more. Feeling adventurous? How
about a Hot Air Balloon ride? Bundle up the
family and soar high above Sedona’s natural
beauty. Upon landing enjoy a Continental
breakfast complete with a champagne toast.
Remember, there are also a lot of Holiday events
that one can attend. The Red Rock Fantasy
(November 17th-December 31st) at Los Abrigados
Resort & Spa has been a Northern Arizona
tradition for over twenty years.
Sip hot
chocolate and stroll through a Holiday
wonderland of over one million lights. At
Tlaquepaque there are a couple of fantastic
events. The Festival of the Trees (November
25th-December 3rd) has forty trees decorated by
local artists on display. One can even bid on
their favorites and take one home! Another event
at Tlaquepaque is the Festival of Lights
(December 10th), featuring 6,000 luminaria,
Holiday lights and live music by The River of
Life Choir. One other event not to miss is the
annual tree lighting ceremony in Uptown Sedona.
Santa makes a
visit, there is music and Holiday treats. There
is also great skiing and snowboarding just 45
minutes from Sedona in Flagstaff. Spend a day on
the slopes and then come back to Sedona for an
evening of fun. Need more? Sedona has it! It is
home to many unique art galleries, shops and
restaurants. Plus there are world-class spas,
golf, hiking and mountain biking.
So this year
celebrate the Holidays with a trip to Sedona.
And see for yourself why Good Morning America
recently named Sedona one of America’s ten most
beautiful places.
