Native American Culture
New Mexico is
home to 19 Indian Pueblos - Acoma, Cochiti,
Isleta, Jemez, Laguna, Nambe, Picuris, Pojoaque,
Sandia, San Felipe, San lldefonso, San Juan,
Santa Ana, Santa Clara, Santo Domingo, Taos,
Tesuque, Zia and Zuni. Most are within an hour's
drive of the city and some pueblos welcome
visitors. There are three reservations located
in New Mexico: the Navajo Reservation, Jicarilla
Apache Reservation and the Mescalero Apache
Reservation.

U.S.
Marines to Support OC Air Show with Rare Harrier
Demo

The U.S Marine
Corps AV-8B Harrier Jump Jet will make a very
rare appearance at the 2009 OC Air Show. The
Harrier, with its unique ability to take off and
land vertically, will make its only waterfront
air show appearance of the year in Ocean City.
The U.S. Navy
recently announced they will support the event
with an F-18 Hornet demo. The F-18 is the
backbone fighter of the U.S. Navy, most commonly
operated from aircraft carriers. The Navy Seals
elite “Leap Frogs” parachute team will also
perform joining the U.S. Army Golden Knights.
The U.S. Air Force will be providing a demo of
the A-10 Warthog, affectionately known as the
“Tank Killer” because of its 30mm seven barrel
cannon mounted in the nose of the aircraft.
The OC Air
Show, headlined by the U.S. Air Force
Thunderbirds, will feature military aircraft
demonstrations, low altitude flyovers, parachute
team jumps and civilian aerobatic performances
over the Ocean City beachfront on June 13-14,
2009 from noon to 4 p.m. The events will be
visible along the entire length of the Boardwalk
creating an inspiring experience for visitors
while they enjoy the resort’s beaches and
attractions.
Interactive
displays and exhibits, including NASA’s
Exploration Experience, will be open to the
public on the streets surrounding Show Center at
16th Street on the Boardwalk.
