St. Simons Island, Georgia

Private Islands of Georgia

PRIVATE ISLANDS OF GEORGIA are “far from reality – near perfection”. They are one of America’s most secluded collections of private islands on the Atlantic coast. A 10-minute boat ride from Darien, Georgia, the islands are for rent, offering an extra-ordinary vacation hideaway for nature lovers, sportsmen, girls’ getaways, honeymooners, eco adventures and family reunions. Each island offers all the wilderness and mystique one could expect of a Southern coastal island.

The islands sit alone – offering peace, quiet and complete seclusion with thousands of acres of coastal salt marsh separating them from the rest of the world. Explore the dazzling and miraculous Georgia eco system, take coastal cruises, sunbathe on private beaches and watch brilliant full moon sunsets. Each Island is only accessible via boat; owner/Cap’n Andy Hill provides round-trip transportation with each visit.

Here you can relax and reduce your ecological footprint while enjoying a ‘sustainable’ vacation. The Private Islands of Georgia are eco-friendly; Andy Hill is a passionate environmentalist who salvages treasures from his surroundings.

Thousands of acres of serene Georgia coastal marsh separate the island from the rest of the world, although the wild beach of Sapelo Island (one of the great barrier islands) is only a short boat ride away and the Darien’s docks and shrimp boats are nearby. Some of the islands have a marina for docking large and small boats with luxurious lodges in a rustic setting.

Private Islands of Georgia are a photographer’s dream. Our “5-Moon Getaway” promises No agenda. No clock. No deadlines. Yes, Fun! ~ Privacy is our Priority.

A Literary Ghosts Night Out!

New Mexico Author Antonia Garcez to Speak and Sign Books Friday, October 30, 2009

Continuing the new literary series, co-sponsored by the Doña Ana Arts Council and the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, New Mexico writer Antonio Garcez will bring his Ghosts Night Out extravaganza to the Rio Grande Theatre. Garcez, a native of New Mexico will read excerpts from his best-selling books, share his experiences regarding haunted locations, paranormal investigations, local ghost sightings, photographs and actual encounters, on October 30, 2009.

Born of mixed heritage with a diverse cultural background, award-winning author Antonio Garcez grew up with a traditional knowledge to be “cautious and respectful towards spirits, folk/healers, witches and forces considered to be paranormal in origin.” Using this knowledge as a springboard for his research and exploration of Southwestern ghost lore, to fill a void in the bookselling market, he has written five best-selling books comprised from personal stories directly transcribed from interviews with residents who have experienced first-hand encounters with ghosts. He currently lives and writes from his mountaintop home in New Mexico, but will bring his expertise and examples of his findings to the Rio Grande Theatre, for an All Hallows Eve look at the real spiritual world that surrounds us.

The Rio Grande Theatre is located at 211 N. Downtown Mall, in Las Cruces. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the lecture begins at 6 pm with a book signing to follow. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased via the website at www.RioGrandeTheatre.com. For more information, visit the website.
