Nelson is winding up his career at KOAT-7 as an anchor
to enhance his passion for singing of mariachi love songs as well as
rancheras and boleros from days gone by.
"I was a disc jockey in the '60's and fell in love
with the music I played to listeners. Mariachi music truly stole my heart
and seldom fails to lift my spirits. I have grown fonder of the
beautiful sound created by the mariachi groups which accompany me on my
CDs."
Speaking engagements will also be the norm. Nelson and
his mariachi group plan on visiting many parts of New Mexico for special
events following his departure from KOAT in December. His last gig was
for a wedding which Nelson says "was an event I thoroughly enjoyed
doing; the love songs were just what the newly weds needed to start things
off just right. Lots of good vibes that night."

Sandia Motor Speedway, Albuquerque's premier asphalt track, is comprised
of a .25 mile oval and a .50 mile banked oval, surrounded by a very
technical and demanding 1.65 mile road course.
SMS hosts a wide
variety of motorsports including Saturday night oval racing from April
27th to Sept. 28th and rents the track to individuals and numerous road
course organizations.
