Two special parks on the new Kennedy
Greenway will be completed and open for visitors in November 2011: The
new Armenian Heritage Park between Faneuil Hall Marketplace and
Christopher Columbus Park will feature a Labyrinth & abstract sculpture.
On the southern end of the new
Greenway at Beach Street, Chinatown Mary Soo Hoo Park (formerly the
Chinatown Gateway Park) will feature a shady sitting benches, moveable
seating, tables with inscribed Chinese chessboards, a signature red
fence, & a Tiananmen Square granite memorial to those who died in the
struggle for freedom in June 1989. A unique feature of the Mary Soo Hoo
Park on the Greenway will be custom-designed replication of 13th–14th
century Jin or Yuan dynasty Chinese painting "Clear Weather In The
Valley" owned by the Museum of Fine Arts Boston to cover a major vent
and accentuate the park concept.
The New Pirates & Patriots Tour, a new
Freedom Trail Foundation walking tour features costumed actors who tell
salty tales of John Hancock’s smuggling and the hanging of pirates Jack
Quelch and William Fly as they visit Boston’s 300-year-old Long Wharf
and to the site of Griffin’s Wharf where the tea went in to the water in

The new 90-minute Kennedy Walking Tour
highlights sites and landmarks in the city which played an important
role in John F. Kennedy's rise to the White House. The tour explores the
emergence of an Irish political machine in Boston—led by Kennedy's
grandfathers, P.J. Kennedy and John F. "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald—which
paved the way for Kennedy's political ascent, from Congressman, to

Three wonderful new visitor centers
have opened to help visitors: The Boston Harbor Islands Visitor Center
on the Kennedy Greenway at State St. , The Boston Tea Party Ships &
Museum Visitor Center on the Fort Point Channel/Harborwalk, & The
Emerald Necklace Visitor Center on the Fenway. The Official Freedom
Trail Visitor Center operated by the Greater Boston Convention &
Visitors Bureau on the Boston Common will reopen soon following a $1.0
million renovation (during construction the GBCVB has provided visitors
with a large Visitor Center at 151 Tremont St.). In Spring 2012 the
National Park Service will open a new National Park Visitor Center
utilizing the entire ground floor of the historic Faneuil Hall.
